A Recap : #ProjectPond

photography : FVI Photo

Jim and I have always wanted to own rental properties, and when we walked into this ranch one early March day (I was previewing for a real estate client that wanted a flip) I knew we needed it. Given we were in the middle of the COVID real estate surge we assumed we wouldn’t get the home but with a little strategy we received the call that our bid was accepted!

What many people don’t know is we (and by we I mean .. Jim) renovated 95% of this home on our own. Jim gutted the place and then meticulously put it back together over the span of four and a half months working late nights and long weekends. He travels for a living so it made it especially challenging for him but somehow someway … he did it. We spent many Friday nights enjoying dinner together as a family with paper plates and napkins, in the backyard on the water in front of the bonfire we created. Once the kid’s bedtime rolled around I head home to put them to sleep, and he picked up the hammer and got to work.

A HUGE thank you to the vendors turned partners turned friends who supported the bulk of this project. Tile America provided the beautiful tile and grout, Monaco Designs sanded and stained our hardwoods to bring them back to life, Sherwin Williams allowed us to pick out the paint and Frances of FVI Photo captured the completed project ever so perfectly.

Thinking about starting a renovation on your own .. don’t! Call HoH instead :)
