From City Living to New England Charm: Designing a Timeless Home in Westport, CT

When our clients made the leap from their small NYC apartment to a stunning New England home in Westport, CT, they wanted their new space to feel like more than just a house—they wanted a true home. Our goal was to create a warm, inviting environment with rich finishes, timeless furnishings, and layered textures that would capture the charm of New England living while maintaining an elevated, sophisticated aesthetic.

The Office:
For the office, we aimed to blend function and style with a cozy, tailored feel. We chose warm wood tones, a statement desk, and built-in shelves filled with personal touches that inspire productivity without sacrificing comfort. A textured wallpaper accent wall adds richness and depth, creating the perfect backdrop to the homeowner’s work calls.

The Dining Room:
The dining room is where New England tradition meets modern design. We designed a custom dining table that seats plenty of guests as-is or extends for family gatherings and dinner parties. To add warmth and texture, we selected upholstered chairs in a neutral fabric that complements the room’s rich wood tones. A statement chandelier anchors the space, casting a warm glow over every meal.

The Foyer:
First impressions matter, and the foyer sets the tone for the rest of the home. We introduced a beautiful console table with decorative accents, textured baskets, and an oversized mirror that reflects light throughout the space. Soft, neutral tones make the foyer feel inviting, while layered rugs add a touch of coziness the moment you step inside.

The Living Room:
The living room was all about creating a space that invites conversation and relaxation. We filled the room with timeless furnishings—think comfortable sofas, tailored armchairs, and a beautiful coffee table that’s perfect for displaying books and fresh flowers. Layered textiles, like cozy throws and textured pillows, bring the warmth of city life into this charming New England home.

The Bedroom:
We designed the bedroom as a serene escape with an emphasis on comfort and elegance. Plush bedding, custom drapery, and a mix of soft textures create a relaxing retreat, while carefully selected furniture pieces keep the look classic yet fresh. The color palette is calming, with soft blues and creams that make the room feel like a personal sanctuary.

This project was about more than just furnishing a house; it was about crafting a space that tells our client’s story—a journey from the hustle and bustle of New York City to the serene and timeless beauty of Westport, CT. By combining rich finishes, warm furnishings, and thoughtful details, we transformed this house into a home that’s ready to be lived in and loved for years to come.
